Just a reminder that only the west hates AI. China has 87% of the populace viewing AI favorably.

Maybe because in China they have a functioning government that enacted laws protecting workers against AI job displacement, while in the west we have shithead CEOs screaming "AI is coming for your job, like it or not" and companies laying off thousands of people with AI washing.

Just a wild guess

Very hard to believe that a government that stopped publishing unemployment data is the one to side with workers.

That's interesting I guess, but a pointless piece of data without asking why.

Ah yes "the west" and "China", the two populations of earth.

"Enshitification" comes for us all, HN comments included.

I wish the article explained why a software issue would cause a physical recall. Can they not update themselves?

The article states that it is a software recall so I don't think they are doing any physical recall of the cars. If you are wondering why they have to declare a recall even if its just for updating the software, this is because car manufactures under US law must declare a recall if they gain knowledge that a car they manufacture has certain safety defects. So even if the fix will be performed via a software update they still have a legal responsibility to declare the recall. The reasoning behind this is that it gives notice to people who may have been harmed by the defect (so they can sue or seek redress of their harm) and it gives notice to operators of the vehicle that they need ensure their software is updated.

Do you say this on every Grok/Tesla/SpaceX post or has something here prompted you differently?

I do say it on every (or most) of the posts I see. There actually aren't that many. I also don't read HN every day.

Beautiful, William Gibson would be proud.

Are you a Magic: the Gathering fan?
