They won the process, got re-hired and given full control. Krafton isn't listed anymore as publisher on the steam page.

I believe Krafton still owns Unknown Worlds. On the other hand the whole reason for this situation (beyond ego) is that the contract for Subautica 2 was very favorable to the people at the latter.

Post you mentioned (Most of What You Read on the Internet is Written by Insane People): https://www.reddit.com/r/slatestarcodex/comments/9rvroo/most...

Women would feel less safe yes but there is no evidence that crime and road accidents would increase.

I personally dislike all lowercase, to me it feels like not greeting someone but I don't get GP's argument either.

The article is a bullet point, yes, but some items have multiple sentences with no caps

funny you should say that, i frequently feel uncomfortable greeting people, because i don't know what greeting is appropriate. (this is exacerbated by the fact that i travel a lot and different cultures have very different ways to greet each other)

so if you feel that my lowercase writing is like i am not greeting you then that's the feeling i probably induce in others frequently. welcome to my world :-)

(multiple sentences appear only twice, btw, it's proof that the writer intended to write all lower case, but not strongly noticeable (to me at least))

Bay Area Rapid Transit?

That's right. In today's carriage to San Francisco my very unscientific observation it's: three reading books, thirty on their phones, ten resting with their thoughts.

Citing Valve as a model for handling cheating is not what I'd have reached for.

Honest question, which companies handle the process better given it is a trade-off? Yes, VAC is not as iron-clad as kernel level solutions can be, but the latter is overly invasive for many users. I'd argue neither is the objectively right or better approach here and Valves approach of longer term data collection and working on ML solutions that have the potential to catch even those cheating methods currently able to bypass kernel level anti-cheat is a good step.

On Github stars, I'd argue they are the most suitable comparison, as all the funny business regarding stars should be, if at all, detectable by Github directly and ideally, bans would have the biggest deterrent effect, if they happened in larger waves, allowing the community to see who did engage in fraudulent behaviour.

Plate waste is roughly a third of total food waste apparently.

They make a distinction between plate waste which was served then trashed and total food waste. Plate waste is roughly a third apparently.

The most successful animal by what metric?

Tetris high scores, obviously

Mother nature hates weak things that die (that's why they get eliminated), so if we can make it to interplanetary species before killing ourselves, that would be a pretty huge sign of success. At least on mother natures benchmark.

Some of us don't spend days looking for food, don't die of cold, and survive the flu...

Agreed, it would seem that evolutionary biology peaked in the late 90s then

As related in the documentary _The Matrix_.

The most successful at communicating their view that they are the most successful. Whether they are or not. But that means they are. By that metric.

Has another animal proposed they are more successful by a different metric?

Crickets?

> The most successful at communicating their view that they are the most successful

To who? Other humans?

It's seagull mating season where I am, and I don't speak seagull, but I'm pretty sure one of the things they're trying to convey to their fellow seagulls is that they're extremely successful.

Can't argue with it either. They're very much alive, which is the best you can be in this particular competition.

You sound like you’ve never been disdainfully stared at by a cat..

Really interesting article though. I’m very hopeful AI can help work out how all these things interact.

So, the most successful at arrogance? In other words, the least successful at humility? Ironically, since humble and human share a common root. Just playing devil's advocate here, but what you propose is not a good metric to maximize.

Corn, albeit not an animal has been pretty successful in terms of number of individuals. Their bi-pedal underlings have cleared swathes of land and take meticulous care of their well-being so they can bask in the sun undisturbed.

Until they are cut down and bombarded with micro waves by the very same bi-pedal underlings.

Instead or in addition to following blogs, what I'd love to have is a way to filter out those I don't like.

Local keyword exclusions (to keep the server requirement minimal) might be pretty high impact.
