Some creationists would say that cancer isn't necessarily proof of poor design but a consequence of inherited sin. If we were still perfect the way Adam was, we would not have cancer.

Note, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the position, just presenting it as I understood it.

And the fact that cancer occurs not only in humans but in animals too? who exactly is being punished then?
