If I can tell an AI to find me something to do next weekend and it goes off and does a web search and it gives me a list of options and it'll buy tickets for me, does it matter if it meets some ill-defined bar of AGI, as long as I'm willing to pay for it?

If it has human-like intelligence, it has its own plans for the weekend, and is too busy to buy your tickets or do your research.
